Q*bert repair question

$

I have a q*bert with a bad 74S161 on it. I have not been able to find a source, other than eBay (which I do not trust) for the exact IC. Will an LS161 substitute for it without any issues?
I have read through the datasheets, and honestly, I cannot make heads or tails of them, especially since the generic Texas Instruments datasheet for 4-bit binary counters and decade counters (that list many different ICs that do the same function, such as the xx161, xx163, etc.) don't even include a...

I'm 70 years old and looking for help and advice. I have the opportunity to repair numerous 80s and 90s arcade machines. In my early life, I was a TV and video engineer, so I am familiar with how game units work, but guidance on where to buy parts, get access to complete manuals would be so appreciated.

Bob.

Grabs so far this year, would like to see other collectors as well.

Minimal testing because I suck at this game.

Made adapter using pinout from my other post.

New xtal installed as original was crunchy AF and mostly wouldn't connect.

Trade me for you non-working but not butchered pcbs

I can't include the adapter as I have one more same pinout im still trying to get working.

You can MMAO also if you don't have anything to trade.

Works on jamma, no color inversion and no stupid interlaced video like originals that never lock in on test bench

Was The (1977) Arcade Game Starhawk The Inspiration For The Movie The Last Starfighter?

Starhawk was a pretty popular game in 1977 if you were lucky to have one in your town. Couldn't help but notice the controls kind of imitate the controls from the ficticious Last Starfighter Arcade machine from the film. A Fun & Popular game back in the day.

Jonathan R. Betuel stated the genesis for the film came about because he wandered into a video arcade and saw a young boy playing a video game. At that time, he was reading the book The Once and Future King by T. H...

Hey all. This is what's going on. I've tested the roms with my programmer and they check out. I've also installed a Braze HSS kit simply for the diagnostics and it shows all RAM and roms ok. Any tips where to start would be great. Thanks.

Hellooooo. I broke out my commodore 64 and tried to play my might and magic book 1 game. I own a retail version but i do not think it works anymore. It fails to load. Im afraid the disks are bad and I can see rings in the magnetic disk. Since another retail copy is going for ludicrous amounts. I was gonna keep the original disks and hopefully seek help here. does anyone have the ability to write me a 5.25 disk of Might and Magic book 1 sides A and B. And a second disk sides c and d? i dont...

WG D9200 yoke wire question

I've got a WG D9200 that I'm working on. The yoke connector had a burnt up red wire so I repinned that 4 pin connector. In checking the ohms on the yoke wires this is what I'm seeing:

Yellow & black - 2.6 ohms
Red & blue - .5 ohms

From what I've read this is correct.

The main question I have is that there is a thin red wire from the yoke that two pieces were soldered together. That soldered wire connects to the two left connections on the bottom of the yoke. You can see what I'm...

Anyone have a FULL set of Atari Star Wars printable cab patterns?

The arcade cabs site only has side panel patterns at full scale. Has anyone converted the other files to
1:1 scale printable patterns?

Or, worst case scenario, does anyone know how much the files need to be upscaled to be correct size?

Thanks in advance!

Where to buy?

I'm likely going to do the unthinkable soon and buy a pin. It will be the only one I will own, due to space and the outlandish cost of purchasing one. I'm pretty sold on a Godzilla Premium, but as far as I know, there are no vendors even remotely local to where I live so I will have to buy online. Which online vendors are reputable?

Thanks!
