Parallel Port General Question and Six Gun Select

I have a Six Gun Select by Global VR that I would like to upgrade from the Windows operating system to their Joshua OS, which would allow me to play games other than just the Last Bounty Hunter that my current set up plays. In order to do that I need a parallel port harness.

I don't have the harness or the schematic. However, I do know what the harness all hooks up to, so I could make one... But can I trial and error with a parallel port, or would I break it by crossing the wrong pins...
