zaxxon ship, screen jumps

Hi all,

I have a nice SEGA Zaxxon cocktail that I finally got around to plugging in and firing up. Everything works and plays at first..

but as it goes to load the next screenful of data, the ship jumps to top altitude and the graphics gray out.

I assume I need to replace the video ram. Can these chips still be found?
