So I am finishing up my conversion mario bros "restore" and plan to run the arcadesd board in it. Since that board has a VGA option, and because I've had trouble tracking down a good arcade monitor AND because I already have quite a few PC CRT monitors I've hoarded from CL, I think I am going to use a PC monitor. My question is, would it be worth it to use a scanline generator like the SLG3000 to add some extra authenticity? I've only seen videos of it being used on LCDs, but is there any reason it wouldn't also work well with a CRT PC monitor? It wouldn't damage the monitor would it?
It seems like a nifty little device and the price isn't terrible, but I don't want to buy it if it will be useless to me. here's a link for the device in case anyone isn't familiar with it.
