Space Encounters goodness.

Finally finished up our Space Encounters yesterday.



Long story short... I bought two of these two years ago... tried fixing them for months and months without any luck... sold them to Mr. Do here on KLOV last August... bought this one back from Mr. Do this September. :)

It was in great shape when I received it from David and just needed a little cleaning and adjusting. I cleaned the sides and front with warm water and Magic Erasers and then took apart the bezel area and cleaned all that with Windex. The monitor also needed a little centering and size adjustments and now looks great.



The final item that needed a little help was the red flashing light. The original bulb was an A23 style 200w red bulb, which turns out to be impossible to find now. Instead I've installed an A19 style 100w red bulb and then used a simple socket adapter to extend it into the correct position.



And because the light was now only 100w I decided to add another 25w red light behind the marquee for a little extra umpa!



The only thing I may do in the future is clean up the metal control panel handles as they are a bit rusty.
