Working on an AR-II board. It used to be sense modded but I don't like that as it is hiding the real problem IMHO (bad connectors) so I undid that. I replaced all caps.
The board works fine in my Star Wars but it produces a hum in the left channel. Also the game sound coming from it is pretty low compared to the right channel.
Note that my own AR-II works fine so it is DEFINITLY a problem on the AR-II.
What I also notice, when I power up I hear a kind of sizzling sound for a second which seems to come from the bad channel.
I cross measured about all the parts to my good board and everything seems fine. I can't measure any diffences between the two using diode test setting on my DVM when measuring to GND etc. All values look the same on both, yet I still suspect them.
Any suggestions ? I already ordered a couple of TDA2003s (2002's seem to be obsolete and the 2003 the improved yet compatible follow-ups...) but maybe it can be something else ?
